Dental Fillings Townsville

One of the  General Dentistry procedures that we perform here at The Townsville Dental Centre is Fillings. Your regular dental checkup may have revealed that one is necessary in order to fill a cavity, or you may have arrived suffering toothache or sensitivity. It is important to not put off having your teeth filled when necessary. If not given immediate attention, this could result in the need for more invasive and expensive dental treatments as further damage occurs.
Fillings are no longer the unsightly amalgam ones of the past, so the need for a filling won’t upset your smile, or your confidence. At our state-of-the-art dental practice, we offer you a tooth-colored filling – also known as a cosmetic dental filling. These composite dental fillings allow us to retain the aesthetic beauty of your teeth and smile.

Why Get Tooth-Coloured Dental Fillings?

There are many advantages to tooth-coloured dental fillings, such as:

  • They are virtually invisible
  • They provide a smooth surface to which food won’t adhere
  • They are as strong as natural tooth enamel
  • They limit further decay

Not only will your smile stay beautiful – only you and your dentist will know you’ve had a filling!

Replace Old Fillings

There has been much written about the visual and potential health implication of having the older style mercury amalgam fillings. So much so that increasingly our patients ask us for advice about what options they have. The good news is, if you have old fillings, you don’t have to have them forever. We are skilled at replacing old fillings with our new, natural, tooth-colored fillings. So whether you require a new filling, or want to replace your old ones, call us to book an examination and consultation.

Replacing Amalgam Filling

Several filings with mercury were traditionally done due to the increase strength into ability. However, with the advancement in technology tooth color grows in composite filling which can provide similar strength and have the added advantage and improved statics. Your dentist may recommend the replacement of your several fillings with white static Fillings. The procedure is simple. The dentist using the dental drill to remove the old silver filling. The tooth-colored filling material also known as white filling is placed into the tooth. White filling materials are actually bonded to the tooth to provide strength and stability. The filling is cured using an ultra violet light. The cured material provides strength for chewing and function. Once the material is cured it is adjusted and polished by your dentist using dental burst and polishing pastes. The fillings blend into the tooth providing in static results. Tooth-colored or white fillings help to restore the tooth into natural shape and appearance.
